Mental Illness does not DEFINE you. It is not who you are. It is not what you are.

LET’S TALK ABOUT IT

The fact that we simply do not acknowledge it, talk about it, understand it,nor
accept it means that Mental Illness is the deadliest killer among us.

Mental Illness does not DEFINE you.
It is not who you are. It is not what you are.

Yet, despite the fact that over 25% of us has a diagnosed mental health issue, it is something that is quietly swept under the rug.

25% of us:

That is more than 53 Million People per year

That is more than Cancer (1.6 million people)

Depression alone constitutes 21 million people

Nearly HALF of our soldiers experience Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and/or Brain Injury

The fact that we simply do not acknowledge it, talk about it, understand it, accept means that Mental Illness is the deadliest killer among us.

Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US

90 % of those who died by suicide experience symptoms of a mental issue

Suicide is the 2nd Leading Cause of Death among those aged 10-34

Suicide rates are on the rise.

There is a pandemic in this country. But, it may not be the one that we have lived with for over two years. Mental Illness needs to be in the forefront of our thoughts, our dialogue and our policy.
This isn’t someone else’s problem!
